Overview
The API takes a YouTube link or video ID and returns an audio or video file. It's a small surface: three real endpoints, one auth parameter, and no client libraries to install.
Base URL
All requests are made against:
base url
https://yt-dow.co08.art
Endpoints
| Method & path | Purpose |
|---|---|
| GET /download | Download audio or video, parameters in the query string |
| POST /download | Same as above, parameters in a JSON body |
| GET /stream/{video_id} | Download using a bare YouTube video ID in the path |
| GET /autoplay | Get the next related tracks for a video ID, under 10 minutes each |
| GET /health | Check whether the API is up |
Response types
The API returns two kinds of response, depending on the endpoint and outcome:
- File response — on a successful download, the response body is the audio or video file, with a matching Content-Type (for example audio/mp4 or video/mp4). There's no JSON wrapper around it.
- JSON response — status checks and every error come back as JSON, always shaped as { "detail": "…" }.
A request either returns a playable file or a JSON error — check the Content-Type header before deciding how to parse the body.
Authentication
Every /download and /stream request needs an API key, passed as a plain api_key parameter. See the authentication guide for how to get one and where it goes in the request.
